The Wider Curriculum represents a substantial part of the educational experience, involving a full choice of activities that take place beyond the academic curriculum – and usually outside the classroom. Worth sees it as an essential part of the learning experience, offering boys and girls the opportunity to learn about life in its broader context: its challenges and opportunities, how to respond to successes and occasional disappointments. It also represents the significance of extra-curricular activities within the ethos of the School and the idea of a balance to be achieved between academic focus and recreational enjoyment.

There is a vast range of activities on offer. Boarders have the added bonus of a range of evening activities and day students are welcome to participate in these if they wish. Weekend activities, too, are open to all and can range from educational and cultural visits to the high-octane pursuits of theme park adventures and paintballing.
Weekly activities also overlap with The Duke of Edinburgh's Award which have various expedition, service and skill requirements. The International Baccalaureate too has a Creativity, Action and Service component and Worth School is currently developing its own wider-curricular passport which will require pupils to record progress in a range of Service and Skill activities.
We have tried to summarise the opportunities available in these sections on the website, but even within this framework we do not have space to do justice to the opportunities which bloom at every corner and refuse to be part of a timetable. Just ask our students about the buzz of working on the student magazine, Identity; the honour of serving as an altar attendant in the Abbey Church; the sense of achievement from swimming the Channel for charity or in attaining The Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award.
