IB students perform well in Science challenge
For three days this week Year 12 IB students have been taking part in a series of scientific experiments for their Group 4 Project.
On Monday and Tuesday the pupils enjoyed two full days of practical activities, such as a windmill challenge, design a flag, determining unknown temperatures and liquids, making a spirit level and working out the height of the Clock Tower. Then on Wednesday, they presented their findings and prizes were awarded.
The project gets its name from one of the six groups from which students must select subjects in the IB course – Group 4, which includes Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Design Technology.
This is a collaborative exercise where the students work in groups to analyse a common topic or problem. The aim of the Group 4 Project is for the students to broaden the scientific understanding and it also counts towards their hours of practical work.
