Annual Fund

Support Us
Worth School

The annual fund supports smaller day-to-day projects for all pupils.

Each year, Worth identifies projects for the Annual Fund that will significantly impact the educational and recreational experiences of our pupils.

Project highlights funded by our generous parents include:

  • Circular saw for Design and Technology
  • Restoration of the grand piano and other musical instruments
  • Digital projector for Drama
  • Outdoor learning equipment
  • Mobile floodlights
  • Musical equipment for the Coleburt Room
  • E-books for the library
  • Enhancing access to the Abbey Church with new doors
  • New greenhouse for Science
  • Digital filming equipment for the Chaplaincy

Please take a moment to look through the projects below for the 2021-22 Annual Fund. Whether you choose to support Drama, Music, Sport, House life, the English, Modern Foreign Languages and Geography departments or bursaries, you will help Worth to thrive and grow and respond to the needs of our expanding community.

Through the Annual Fund, there is the opportunity to direct a gift to the Bursary Fund. Donations to this fund have the power to change lives by creating the opportunities that an outstanding, life-changing education enables.

Thank you for your consideration and support. All gifts are meaningful, gratefully received and collectively transformational.

Drama:

Wireless microphones (£12,300)

Annual Fund

Taking part in a musical at Worth is undoubtedly a highlight of the school year. Unfortunately, our current equipment is not reliable enough to perform without interferences. New wireless microphones would make the biggest difference to the quality of our shows, enhancing our performances and the audience experience. In future we are going to be doing musical theatre in some way each year, whether it is the senior production, middle school, junior or a cabaret evening. They are the most attended events in our School and we want to make them the very best they can be with this much needed equipment. These projects will greatly enhance our future performances and we definitely can’t wait to bring theatre back! Will you be joining us at our performance of Grease in December? Your support will help us make it a showstopper to remember.

Benefits: drama pupils, performers, the audience.

Drama:

Theatre curtains (£4,400)

Annual Fund

We would like to purchase a new set of two-depth curtains and a valance at the top which will make the stage appear more professional and visually appealing. This would make a massive difference to the theatre and stage presentation at all events. These projects will greatly enhance our future performances and we definitely can’t wait to bring theatre back! Will you be joining us at our performance of Grease in December? Your support will help us make it a showstopper to remember.

Benefits: drama pupils, performers, the audience.

Drama:

Theatre lights (£5,000)

Annual Fund

Lighting is crucial to a fantastic performance and our lights are in need of an upgrade. With more and more pupils taking a technical option as part of their Drama GCSE, and the importance of lighting in our shows, new lighting would enhance the experience for so many. These projects will greatly enhance our future performances and we definitely can’t wait to bring theatre back! Will you be joining us at our performance of Grease in December? Your support will help us make it a showstopper to remember.

Benefits: drama pupils, performers, the audience.

Sport:

Golf simulator (£15,000)

Annual Fund

The Sports department has an exciting plan to convert one of our squash courts into an indoor golf facility, complete with a simulator. The facility would allow pupils to have one-to-one or small group lessons during study periods, activity sessions or evenings. There would be year-round golf lessons in any weather, state-of-the-art analysis for coaching, opportunities for private lessons, increased practice time and professional level equipment. Such a significant development would further boost the quality of the golf programme. Worth, together with Tilgate Golf Academy with whom we have formed a partnership for golf, will be able to cover half the cost of the project by purchasing a Trackman 4, the latest genuine state-of-the-art golf launch monitor. We are asking for support for the installation of the simulator equipment and matting in order to complete the project.

Benefits: golfers, aspiring golfers, the activity programme.

Sport:

Electronic scoreboard (£5,700)

Annual Fund

This new scoreboard would improve scoring for the 1st XV and 1st XI pitches and would be more visible to the spectators than the current one, as well as contributing to the aesthetics of the field.

Benefits: rugby, cricket and lacrosse players and spectators.

Sport:

VEO camera (£1,300)

Annual Fund

VEO is widely regarded as the ultimate camera for team sports, allowing automatic recording of matches and training sessions with ball tracking technology, enabling it to record on its own. It provides invaluable input for coaching and player development. The Sports department has been able to purchase one VEO camera and a second would double the benefits available to coaches, individuals and teams.

Benefits: all players in team sports, coaching staff.

Thanks to a generous parent, this project has now been fully funded.

House life:

Gervase patio (£2,600)

Annual Fund

A patio would provide year-round outdoor space for the Gervase boarders to socialise and relax. At the moment, we have a small courtyard to use which is surrounded by the boarding House on all sides. Consequently, it can only be used at a few select times throughout the year. A new patio on the West side of the building would extend from the current path to the West door. With lovely views over the golf course and sunshine, we could host barbecues, play ping pong and enjoy social time together outdoors.

Benefits: Gervase pupils, staff and families.

English Department:

Heart and Soul Magazine (£2,500)

Annual Fund

The debut edition of this exciting new magazine is currently featured on the School’s website. Whilst we are thrilled with the online version, we would love a printed version to showcase our students’ work. Produced by a team of pupils and staff, the magazine features talent from across the School, including art, photography and creative writing pieces. The magazine will contribute to raise the profile of writing within the School, encourage more pupils to compete in national writing competitions and allow us a very pleasing visual way of celebrating this sort of creativity within the student body.

Benefits: all contributors, English, art and photography pupils, readers across the School.

Modern Foreign Languages and Geography:

Hallway display (£9,000)

Annual Fund

Bringing the ground floor corridor in the teaching block to life with vibrant artwork and engaging educational wall graphics is the goal of this exciting project. We hope to introduce a fresh and global perspective to the Geography and MFL academic learning spaces through the introduction of visually stimulating digital wallpaper and acrylic displays. The communication of our values and learning behaviours, inspirational quotes, student artwork as well as information on topics such as the natural world, architecture, global environmental issues and foreign languages can all be incorporated into the display to enhance the learning environment and create a ‘wow’ factor.

Benefits: MFL and Geography pupils.

Music:

Cello and bass racks (£2,000)

Annual Fund

Thanks to donations from the previous Annual Fund, we have been able to bring back to life a good number of Worth’s stock of cellos and double basses, enabling pupils starting on these instruments to easily borrow an instrument before acquiring one of their own. In order to protect these instruments for the future, we want to invest in well-designed, purpose-built storage and display racks. The units will be moved with ease and are fitted with padded supports to protect the instruments when not being played.

Benefits: music tuition.

Bursaries:

Worth School Bursary Fund

Annual Fund

Bursaries have the power to transform lives and we ask you to join us in supporting this meaningful campaign. Donations to the Bursary Fund create the chance of providing an outstanding, life-changing education to someone who would not otherwise have this opportunity.

Benefits: Bursary recipients, their families and the whole school community.

Bursaries:

The St Bruno’s Bursary Fund

The St Bruno’s Bursary Fund

This Fund supports the Abbey’s youth retreat programme, which offers hospitality to groups that would like to engage with the spirituality and rhythm of prayer found at the monastery. The Fund contributes to paying youth workers to run residential retreats for teenagers and young adults (the only such programme in our Diocese of Arundel and Brighton) and subsidises the cost for participants.

Benefits: Young people who want to explore their spirituality.
