Boarding at Worth was highlighted in our recent ISI Inspection, with the accolade 'highly effective' given to the ‘leadership of boarding’ as well as the ‘management of boarding’.
These are significant achievements in which we can all take pride as a community – day pupils and boarders alike – as, ultimately, they underpin the vibrant, inclusive spirit and well-run nature of the School which was the basis on which Worth was recently judged Boarding School of the Year at the Independent Schools of the Year awards.
In winning that award, the judges considered the School’s strong pastoral care and spiritual grounding alongside academic excellence, our excellent facilities, our extensive weekends programme and how our deeply embedded six values mark us out from other senior schools.
Worth underwent an ISI Inspection in December and the inspectors were equally praising of our boarding provision, which comes in the shape of two girls’ boarding houses, three boys’ houses and a flexi boarding house for boys.
In their report, inspectors wrote: “The leadership of boarding is highly effective. Boarding staff have appropriate training, which is reviewed regularly, and updated when required. Policies and procedures are implemented effectively and consistently across the boarding houses. Well-developed channels of communication between house and academic staff ensure that all aspects of pupils’ wellbeing are monitored and supported.
“Boarders participate enthusiastically in the programme of Friday night and weekend activities. The school develops their understanding of how engagement with recreational activities promotes their wellbeing and of the need to balance their academic lives with well-used free time.
“The boarding houses provide a warm, comfortable and suitable environment in which pupils can work, sleep and relax. House common rooms are well equipped with a wide range of recreational games and equipment. Boarders have access to kitchen facilities where they can make snacks and socialise with friends. Boarders confirm that they feel safe and well looked after.”
