All Year 12 Business students recently enjoyed an engaging and insightful trip to Legoland Windsor, combining academic learning with a memorable day out.
A key highlight of the visit was a dedicated workshop held at the Legoland Learning Centre. During this session, students explored the history and growth of the LEGO brand, gaining valuable insight into how it has developed into a globally recognised company. They also examined how LEGO effectively uses market segmentation to target different consumer groups and considered the brand’s core vision and values.
The workshop further explored the relationship between Lego and Merlin Entertainments, providing students with a real-world understanding of how partnerships are used strategically to develop attractions such as Legoland and encourage repeat customer visits. This reinforced key marketing concepts studied in class, particularly around branding, customer loyalty and experience-led marketing.
Following the workshop, students had the opportunity to experience the park’s rides and attractions, allowing them to see first-hand how the visitor experience is designed to engage different audiences. The day provided an excellent balance between academic learning and enjoyment, and students thoroughly embraced both aspects of the trip.
The visit will play an important role in supporting teaching and learning this term, as the concepts covered in the workshop will be revisited and applied in greater depth in lessons, particularly in relation to marketing theory and real-world business practice.
Overall, the trip was a great success and a valuable addition to the BTEC, A Level and IB Year 12 Business curriculum.
