Worth School

Science is thriving at Worth and students are celebrating a number of successes in British Olympiad competitions and the Top of the Bench competition run by the Royal Society of Chemistry.

In the Top of the Bench competition, five students received certificates of commendation, while in the prestigious Senior Chemistry Olympiad for Sixth Form students, aimed at Year 13 student level, there was one gold certificate for a Year 12 student, one silver, two bronze and three highly commended.

The British Physics Olympiad is run by Oxford University and recognises excellence in young physicists. In the senior competition for Year 12, one Worth student collected a gold certificate, which means for this age group, they are in the top 5% nationally. One student achieved silver, which represents the top 10%, and seven won bronze.

There were similarly impressive results in the Senior Biology Olympiad, aimed at the Year 13 students, with one silver certificate for a Year 12 and three bronze certificates awarded.

All these results are an excellent reflection on the Science teaching at Worth. Well done to all our students receiving awards.

Pictured are some but not all of the students who received certificates.
