Design and Technology continues to grow at Worth, with many students choosing to study the subject at GCSE or A Level, and it was lovely to see so many families visiting an impressive exhibition of student work at Speech Day recently.
It is a compulsory subject for all pupils in Years 7 to 9, at Worth introducing the boys and girls to a range of practical and theoretical skills and knowledge, while also offering an insight into potential career opportunities which include product, graphic, interior and furniture design, architecture, engineering, computer gaming design, product marketing, dentistry and surveying and estate management.
From Year 10 pupils can choose to study it as a GCSE option and then as A Level choice where the course focuses on product design
In addition to the formal academic curriculum, students can also choose Design and Technology as a co-curricular activity, where games and design and construction challenges are combined to produce aerodynamic gliders and remote-controlled racing cars.
Design and Technology at Worth is led by Mr Dan Weaver, pictured.
