Worth’s Drama students received high praise after putting on one of the School’s most ambitious shows yet when they performed Sweeney Todd across two nights in the Performing Arts Centre theatre last weekend.
The production was an immersive dinner show, which was the first interactive show of its kind at Worth. It was also performed just three weeks into the new academic year, which meant rehearsal time was limited.
However, despite the challenges, our Drama scholars produced an excellent production of Sweeney Todd, which is a gripping and darkly comic thriller set in Victorian London. The story follows the infamous barber Sweeney Todd and his quest for revenge.
Using atmospheric lighting, special effects, sound design and interactive performance elements, the theatre was transformed into the world of Fleet Street, drawing the audience directly into the action.
As well as immersive tickets, there were also general entrance tickets on sale and the show was a huge success. There was also a charity element, with money from ticket sales going to the Make A Wish Foundation, which is a charity that the students chose.
Well done to all involved in the production. Worth’s next major show is We Will Rock You in December. Tickets can be purchased here: https://events.liveit.io/worth-school/
