Our Drama provision at Worth is widely regarded to be outstanding and one facet is students being able to learn from staff still working in the industry.
This summer Assistant Director of Drama Mr Matthew Wellman has been performing on stage in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at Aberystwyth Arts Centre. The show, which comes to the end of its run this week, has been receiving excellent reviews.
One newspaper offered this review: “Director Richard Cheshire breaks your heart one minute and makes you laugh the next. His casting is great with the company’s local youngsters shining as brightly as the seasoned stars around them.”
As well as offering Drama as both a GCSE and A Level option, Worth puts on three shows a year – a Senior School production, a Middle School show and a Junior School one – covering a range of genres and styles. There is also an annual Drama Scholars’ production, while all students gave the chance to perform through House Drama.
Regular masterclasses with visiting actors and directors further enrich the experience of students, while those not so keen at being on stage are able to take up backstage roles, learning about sound and lighting with our Theatre Manager, Mr Giovanni Manno.
Drama at Worth is led by Director of Drama Mrs Natalie Lynch.
