We were delighted to welcome experienced school speaker Isla von Tricht back to Worth this week to give separate talks to Year 10 and Year 12 on the topic of consent.
The aim of these workshops was to equip students with a practical and detailed understanding of consent by providing them with key information on the topic. The talks were driven by age-appropriate scenarios that students may face while giving them the skills to navigate these situations. Importantly, Isla stressed the importance that communication and consent can be enthusiastically given in all types of relationships.
Mr Joe Huntley, Head of PSHE, said: “Isla’s sessions form an in invaluable part of our PSHE curriculum. Isla skilfully demonstrated the verbal and non-verbal signals to look out for when consent is or is not given. It is vital that our pupils have clear guidance on how to protect themselves and others, know the boundaries and understand the law. However, it is also vital that consent can be given enthusiastically and communication is a vital factor in all healthy relationships.”
