An excellent year for cricket at Worth

With eight wins and one draw from 11 fixtures, our annual 1st XI cricket awards evening was an opportunity to celebrate an excellent season for the School.

This was a particularly pleasing set of results as the majority of a young squad will still be at the School next year.

The only two defeats came in area cup competitions and along the way there were a number of convincing victories as well as a new school record opening partnership being set as Jack (140 not out) and Fraser (94 not out) put on 270 for no wicket against Christ’s Hospital in May.

At the annual awards, which followed the final game of the season, Jack Gorton was named Best Batter for scoring 406 runs, Charlie Grant was named Best Bowler for 16 wickets, while Charlie also collected the Player of the Season for his all-round contribution.

Jack, Faye and John were awarded Full Colours, while George, Jacob and Fraser were presented with Half Colours.

Congratulations to all the boys and girls involved in the 1st XI this season.

Cricket at Worth is led by Mr Raj Chaudhuri, a former First Class cricketer in India and an English Cricket Board level 4 qualified coach.
