Worth School

With the new cricket season at Worth beginning on Saturday, one of our captains has spoken about his hopes for the season and why Worth is the perfect school for boys and girls to develop as cricketers.

In 2026, Worth will be running 14 representative cricket teams for boys and girls, with the 1st XI beginning on Saturday with their annual friendly against First Class Cricket Academy, which is based at Worth and run by our Head of Cricket Mr Raj Chaudhuri.

Among a challenging programme of fixtures, Worth will also play annual Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and Sussex Martlets on 26 April and 3 May respectively, as well as a tour in June which will include a match away to Rugby School before participating in the Emeriti Schools Festival.

Last summer our U15A team won the Blackshaw Cup and the 1st XI reached the final of the Langdale Division Two Cup. Then in November we were named in The Cricketer magazine’s list of top cricket schools in the UK for an eighth year in succession.

Individual successes include 2025 1st XI captain George McLoughlin earning a place in the Surrey Academy, former 1st XI cricketer Claudie Cooper now playing for Yorkshire County Cricket Club women and 2026 all-day game captain Daniel Burton being picked for Scotland U19, which was announced on our website yesterday.

In this film Charlie Grant, our 2026 limited overs captain, talks about the season ahead, how the cricket coaching at Worth has developed his game and why he urges any ambitious cricketers to come to Worth to continue their cricket education. We hope you enjoy the film
