To round off a busy year in Science, Year 9 students in their last Chemistry lesson enjoyed investigating the properties of liquid nitrogen.

Freezing and smashing a banana, deflating a balloon and freezing flowers were some of the fun experiments that were undertaken using this cryogenic liquid, which boils at -196°C. The lesson linked to Year 9 topics such as states of matter and bonding.
