Gervase House has had a varied history and traces its origins back to Worth’s very beginnings as a senior school, first forming in September 1960.
Gervase is a happy House where boys from all over the world live together as brothers. The House is situated overlooking the golf course, yet only minutes from the classrooms, with accommodation for up to 60 boys in Years 9 to 13. Boys have the use of a large common room with a TV and the infamous ‘Pit’. There is also a games room with a pool table and table football along with a quiet room where pupils can read or play chess. The House has its own garden while the Sports Hall and hard play area for football and basketball are close by.
The accommodation is a mix of old and new. There are about 12 boys in each year group and Years 9 to 10 share 3 to 4 to a room while Year 11 pupils have twin rooms and Year 12/13 pupils have their own rooms. Years 11 to 13 pupils study in their rooms during prep and study periods and all their rooms have internet access. Years 9 and 10 do prep in a separate study room with wi-fi access.
We have a very strong House team. The Housemaster is Mr Alick Macleod (pictured) who teaches Geography and Games. Mr Macleod is married to Helen who teaches History at the School and they have two young children, Rory and Skye. Mr Macleod is supported by Deputy Housemaster, Mr Robin Moss, Boarding Tutor Mr Will Burch, a House Chaplain and Matron Lydia Bettison.
Our Patron is Blessed George Gervase, a Sussex-born Benedictine monk and priest who was martyred at Tyburn in 1608.
