Incoming Head Ben Pennington got to find out more about Worth School’s long association with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award when he met Gold Award students on a recent visit to the School.
Mr Pennington chatted with Sixth Form students who were attending a Saturday morning session to prepare for their Gold expedition on Dartmoor across four nights next month.
Worth is a licenced DofE centre and each year runs an active Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme for the Bronze, Silver and Gold awards. We are proud to have the highest achievement rate among independent schools in the South East region.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a challenging programme of personal development and is recognised by universities and organisations around the world. The Award contains four elements which help shape individuals: volunteering, a physical activity, acquiring skills and undertaking an expedition.
Students completing their Gold Award are honoured each year at a special ceremony at Buckingham Palace which is attended by a member of the Royal Family and other well-known personalities.
