Great experience for young footballers

A feature of Worth’s football programme is to provide the opportunity for our footballers to play in different environments and experience fresh challenges in their development.

Worth has recently established a community link-up with local senior non-league club Crawley Down Gatwick and as part of that relationship our U14A footballers played Crawley Down’s U14s at the Haven football ground just before half term.

This was a great experience for our footballers to play under floodlights at a senior non-league ground, cheered on by parents in the stands. With some Year 7 and Year 8 pupils playing a year ‘up’ an age group, the team conducted themselves superbly as they ran out comfortable winners.

Football is the largest team sport at Worth in terms of participation, with the school fielding more than 20 boys and girls’ sides from under 18s to under 13s.

The link-up with Crawley Down Gatwick, which runs 27 junior teams for boys and girls, will have mutual benefits including more experiences like this for Worth footballers.
