Congratulations to Worth’s 1st XI hockey boys who have made an excellent start to the season, with two wins from their opening two fixtures.

The boys began with a 6-1 win against Sevenoaks School last Tuesday and followed it up with a 3-0 victory away to Lancing College on Saturday.

Boys’ hockey was introduced at Worth in 2017 and has been growing at a good pace ever since, with huge progress having been made over the last couple of years under new Head of Hockey, double Olympian Mr Calum Giles.

Under the guidance of Mr Giles, who represented Great Britain at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta and the 2000 Games in Sydney, the 1st XI boys won seven games from 12 in 2023-24 before improving that record with nine wins from 12 in 2024-25.

Significant improvements with the boys has been complemented by success for girls’ hockey, which has always been a strength at Worth. This academic year the 1st XI girls reached the National Plate semi-finals for the first time, the U15A girls progressed to the fourth round of the ISHC Plate and the U13 girls won a tournament.
