Worth celebrates outstanding achievement
Worth has been congratulated by the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme for an outstanding ‘Awards Achieved’ rate in 2018-19.
The School is proud to be a Duke of Edinburgh's Award Directly Licensed Centre, which allows us to run and approve Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award South East Region aspiration is for schools to reach a 60% ‘Awards Achieved’ level and this year Worth has recorded a massive 78% ‘Awards Achieved’, which is a significant achievement. This is down to good planning, increased staff training, lots of hard work and, of course, many determined students who have achieved their DofE certificates through Worth with pride.
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award aims to provide an enjoyable, challenging and rewarding programme of personal development for young people, which is of the highest quality and widest reach. The scheme has always been popular within the School but this year’s figures are the most impressive for a number of years.
Jo Ireland, the Operations Officer for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in the South East Region, wrote to the School saying: “I just wanted to personally say thank you to all the team for such a fantastic result this year. It has been a pleasure supporting the school and I look forward to continuing this great work next year.”
