Incoming Head Mr Ben Pennington has spoken about academic excellence being “one of our highest priorities” but also how formation of character is so important to the education Worth School delivers.
Mr Pennington joins Worth in September as a permanent replacement to Mr Stuart McPherson who left at Christmas to become Head of Sydney Grammar School in his native Australia. Until September, Senior Deputy Ms Marisa Bosa has taken over as Interim Head.
Ahead of his arrival, Mr Pennington features in a new film about Worth School and has also penned his thoughts on the benefits of an education at Worth.
He wrote: “Worth understands something essential: a school is not simply a place of study; it is a place where character is formed. Here, pupils become young adults who are grounded, generous and confident in who they are, with a real desire to make a positive difference.
“Worth also recognises that education must be about hard work, academic ambition and the joy of discovery – delivered within a culture where every pupil is supported and encouraged by motivated, friendly and deeply engaged teachers. Academic excellence, whatever it looks like for each individual student, is one of our highest priorities and you can be confident that our holistic education enhances, rather than compromises, academic rigour.”
