Worth marked Holocaust Memorial Day with an engaging talk from visiting speaker Tristan Stone about the importance of refusing to forget.
Holocaust Memorial Day is a national commemoration day, dedicated to remembering the Holocaust, its victims and those from other acts of genocide throughout history. It is celebrated each year on 27 January, which was the day in 1945 when the infamous concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated.
This year’s theme is ‘Bridging Generations’, highlighting the crucial role of the next generation in preserving the memory of the Holocaust and carrying it forward.
Teacher, author, theologian and musician Mr Stone is a third-generation survivor of the Holocaust. He spoke in whole school assembly on Monday, inviting students to think about what the day meant to them and asking everyone present to consider if they could be “kinder, braver and a little more human” in their daily lives.
Mr Stone is pictured with Interim Head Ms Marisa Bosa, who organised the talk.
