Pupils step back into the past

Pupils in Year 8 stepped back into the past on a fascinating trip to Fishbourne Roman Palace in Chichester as part of their Latin course.

This historic site includes a vast, excavated villa with floor mosaics, recreated Roman style gardens and an onsite museum.

The trip linked with their studies of Roman Britain and following this each pupil will be involved in completing a project based on Fishbourne, which will count towards 20% of their summer examination as well as being entered into the annual Year 8 and 9 Classics Essay Competition.

As part of the trip, the pupils took part in an hour-long workshop on domestic life during which they were able to handle Roman artefacts.

Latin is offered as part of the curriculum for Year 7 and 8 pupils at Worth.
