Record-breaking start to university challenge

A new season of University Challenge got off to a tremendous start at Worth last Friday with a record-breaking first round score.

Worth University Challenge was introduced for the 2025-26 academic year, with teams of four answering a serious of tough general knowledge questions. Based on the long-running television quiz show, all nine senior Houses at Worth take part with Chapman House being our inaugural winners.

The 2026-27 competition began last Friday with the girls of St Catherine’s setting a new first-round record of 680 points to emerge as winners ahead of Farwell and Rutherford.

Next Friday will see two more heats, featuring the remaining six Houses involved. The three winning Houses and the best runner-up will progress to the semi-finals on Friday 9 October, with the grand final taking place in November.

At Worth we like to stretch and challenge our students and this competition enables them to expand their knowledge in a fun way.
