Worth’s Director of Music has spoken about the “great privilege” for the Schola Cantorum to sing Mass at Westminster Cathedral.
Forty-one students travelled to London on Saturday evening after being invited to sing Mass at Westminster Cathedral. It was a huge honour and one student described it afterwards as a “once in a lifetime opportunity”.
Director of Music, Mr Lewis Brito-Babapulle, said: “I was immensely proud of how the Schola Cantorum took the experience of singing at Westminster Cathedral completely in their stride. They quickly picked up on the clarity and power required to make their sound project in the Cathedral’s generous acoustic and gave superb performances of the Kyrie and Gloria from Schubert’s Mass in G, Bruckner’s Locus Iste and Franck’s Panis Angelicus.
“It was a great privilege for the choir to sing at the cathedral, and a trip down memory lane for the two current members of the Schola Cantorum who are former Westminster Cathedral choristers.”
Here is a selection of pictures from Saturday.
