As part of this year’s Academic Scholars’ Society programme, students were invited to write a research essay on a subject of their choice, demonstrating independent thought, careful research and intellectual ambition.
The standard of entries was extremely high and all who submitted an essay should be congratulated for their commitment and curiosity. However, one essay stood out and in assembly last week Year 12 student Clemens was presented with the Best Academic Scholars’ Essay prize for 2026.
Clemens’ essay, titled ‘How far can capitalist economics achieve sustainable growth without government intervention?’, showed impressive depth, clarity of argument and mature engagement with a complex economic debate. It was thoughtful, well-structured and intellectually rigorous.
The Academic Scholars’ Society runs every Friday at Worth and provides a wide range of experiences and challenges to build upon academic learning and success.
