Many congratulations to Year 8 pupil Toby Proctor who has been selected as a finalist in the STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory School Science Prize competition.

With more than 100 students nationwide entering this annual competition, Toby has been chosen as one of just 16 finalists who have been invited to attend a celebration event at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory next Friday. The laboratory, near Didcot in Oxfordshire, is home to many of the UK’s most advanced research facilities and supports work in a range of areas including space science and astronomy, particle physics, nanotechnology and developing new materials.

Pupils in our Junior House, Austin House, were encouraged to enter this competition which opened in September.

Ahead of the final all 16 finalists have been asked to film a two-minute presentation entitled ‘Why I love science’ which will be shown on the evening.

All finalists will receive a finalist’s certificate and the winner will receive an Amazon Fire 7 tablet.

Well done Toby, we are proud of your achievement.
