Students display leadership skills

Worth School

Worth places great emphasis on the formation of young people and teaching leadership is a key part of that, which is why we are always delighted when former students come back to the School to pass on advice.

Leadership is taught in many ways at Worth from being part of the Leadership Formation course we run each year for Year 12, the CAFOD Young Leaders programme we offer, taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at different levels to the simple day-to-day actions by our students which we witness throughout the academic year.

We believe opportunities like this are vital in preparing our young people for the world beyond the school gates.

It was lovely at the end of June when a number of former students returned to the School to deliver talks at our excellent two-day Careers and Further Education Fair for Year 12 students. This included an alumni panel of five recent leavers who spoke to current students about their varying paths since leaving Worth including university, employment, studying overseas and post graduate applications. There were also former students among the careers advisors at the fair.

This was just one example. Another is former student Toby Rumford, who now works as one of the diplomats in the UK Delegation to NATO, coming back to be the guest speaker at the Worth Model United Nations Conference earlier this year.

We thank all former students who give up their time to share their experiences with the current cohort, showing great leadership skills in doing so.
