Year 13 BTEC Business students were treated to a talk and Q&A session with Medwin and Preya Culmer, who pitched their products on the BBC TV programme Dragons’ Den last year.

Medwin and Preya started their company Bloomtown out of their Cornish kitchen in 2016 after spending two years in Indonesia and witnessing first-hand the devastation caused by palm oil cultivation. They decided that if they could not find body and skincare that was free from these harmful and destructive ingredients, they would have to create their own ethical palm-free products.

The entrepreneurs spoke to our Business students last week about how they started their business, the importance of a strong USP and where they source their ingredients. They also talked about their time with the Dragons and their experience on the popular TV show. The students thoroughly enjoyed the talk and will use the information to help them with their coursework module ‘Pitching a new Business’ in which they have to come up with their own business idea and pitch it to investors.

Business Studies is offered at Worth as A Level and IB Diploma options, as well as a BTEC course.
