Students shine in Biology Challenge

Worth School

Worth students did extremely well when competing in the annual Biology Challenge run by UKBC, a charity that works closely with the Royal Society of Biology.

Three Year 10 students achieved a Gold award, which means they scored in excess of 90% which puts them in the top 5% of students in the country. Our students also collected Silver (more than 86%), Bronze (more than 81%), Highly Commended (more than 76%) and Commended (more than 70.5%) awards.

This competition is open to students aged 13 to 15 years old and consists of two 25-minute multiple choice papers taken in exam conditions.

Questions are set are on the school curriculum, but the competition rewards those students whose knowledge of the subject has been increased by reading books and magazines, watching natural history programmes, taking notice of the news media for items of biological interest and are generally aware of our natural flora and fauna.

Well done to all Worth students who received awards.

This was another success for the Science department at Worth.
