Students shine in Physics Olympiads

Sixth Form students are celebrating an excellent set of results in the highly prestigious and challenging British Physics Olympiads.

Year 12 students took part in the online Senior Physics Challenge, with all those entered securing medals and two achieving the top level of gold which puts them in the top 16% of those who took the test across the country.

Meanwhile, Year 13 students took part in the written British Physics Olympiad, from which teams are chosen for an international Olympiad later this year. This is a very challenging set of questions where students are tested on their logical processing. Like the Senior Physics Challenge, the top academic schools across the country enter this competition and the standard is extremely high. Two of our students received commendations, three achieved bronze awards (there are two levels of bronze award) and one earned silver.

Successful students were congratulated for their achievements by Head Master Mr Stuart McPherson in the final assembly before the Easter break.

Congratulations to all students who achieved awards.
