Worth students were told ‘every lesson counts’ and how turning up for school improves your chances of success as awards were presented to individuals who achieved 100% attendance across the school year.
In the final assembly of the 2025-26 academic year, Deputy Head (Pastoral) Mr Mark Macdonald spoke to students about the importance of attending lessons and the benefits of that as people progress through life.
Mr Macdonald said: “Good attendance is about more than just grades. When you are in school regularly, you build stronger friendships, develop teamwork and communication skills, and become part of the school community. These are all things that employers and universities value highly.
“Some people think that missing a day here and there does not make much difference. But those days add up. Ten missed days a year is two whole weeks of learning. Across several years, that can become months of lost opportunities.
“Attending school also helps you develop habits that will benefit you for life. Being reliable, punctual and committed are qualities that employers look for in the workplace. The habits you build now can shape your future career and success.
“Of course, everyone gets ill sometimes and there are occasions when absence cannot be avoided. But whenever possible, being present gives you the best chance to achieve your goals, whether that is passing exams, getting into university, learning a trade or pursuing a dream career.”
Well done to all students who received certificates for 100% attendance. Here is a selection of pictures from the presentations covering some but not all the certificate recipients.
