Subject specialists deliver talks

Year 12 Biology students enjoyed a fascinating day of inspiring lectures from leading Science specialists when they went on the annual Biology in Action trip last week.

The trip to the Emmanuel Centre in London last Wednesday shone a light on cutting-edge research and current issues from the world of biology. It also included a special session on examination success designed to provide students with the tools that they need to excel.

Guest speakers on the day included Greg Foot, a science presenter and communicator; Dr Nessa Carey, an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Oxford University; Professor Tim Underwood, a professor of gastrointestinal surgery; Professor Mark Brandon, an Antarctic and Arctic researcher; and Dr Rachel Williams, a neuroscientist.

The talks were designed to link to the curriculum, expanding the students’ knowledge of biological matters.
