A team of Worth pupils enjoyed success, including winning three individual awards, when they attended a Junior Model United Nations conference last Saturday.
Many of the group had not taken part in an MUN conference previously, so this was great experience for all of them and they can all be proud of how they represented the School.
Their efforts were recognised by winning three individual awards, including a Commended Delegate award in ECOFIN and Highly Commended Delegate awards in both the Security Council and SPECPOL. These achievements showed the strength of the MUN Society at Worth.
The conference at Reigate Grammar School, which was designed for pupils in Years 7 and 9, included a workshop aimed at helping students develop their understanding of how Model United Nations committees operate.
Representing both the United Kingdom and Iran, Worth pupils debated a range of global issues, from the ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran to the worldwide cost of living crisis. They participated enthusiastically in committee sessions, engaging in thoughtful debate and collaboration while successfully passing a number of resolutions.
Model United Nations conferences provide an excellent opportunity for students to develop their public speaking, negotiation, and research skills while gaining a deeper understanding of international affairs.
