In continued support of the School’s PSHE programme, we were delighted last week to welcome guest speaker Zoe Biles who came in to deliver a talk to Year 10 and 12 students on ‘Consent’.

A colleague of Isla Van Tricht, who visited the School last year, Zoe discussed and highlighted the verbal and non-verbal signs when consent is or is not given and how individuals can protect themselves and feel empowered to communicate positively on the subject.

The idea of the talk was to clarify situations and scenarios in which students may find themselves in and how they can promote positive conversations on the topic.

In reflecting on the talk, two students – one boy and one girl – felt that the workshop was invaluable and gave them greater confidence. One said: “After the consent talk, I feel a lot more comfortable talking about consent and I now know more about it than just the law. It has been very helpful for our whole year group too.”

The other one said: “The talk allowed me to understand how vital consent is for any healthy and respectful relationship, whether that be a social or a more intimate setting.”

The personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) curriculum at Worth offers a broad range of information, experiences and resources to draw upon for all year groups.
