Congratulations to former Worth 1st XV rugby player Tate Williams who has been picked to represent England U20 at the 2026 World Junior Championship in Georgia this summer.
Tate represented England U18 while at Worth, featuring in the 2025 U18 Six Nations Festival where he started the match against Spain and helped England go undefeated in the tournament.
Earlier in the 2025-26 season, Tate made his 1st XV debut for Harlequins and he was subsequently picked for the 2026 U20 Six Nations Festival, winning three caps in matches against Ireland, Italy and France.
He started both uncapped, warm-up matches in preparation for this summer’s championships, including a fixture against Italy in Calvisano last Friday, and did sufficiently well to be included in the 30-man England squad for the tournament which was named yesterday.
England will begin their World Junior Championship campaign a week on Saturday (27 June) against Ireland in Tbilisi. That will be followed by USA on Thursday 2 July and Argentina on Tuesday 7 July. Among past participants at these championships are the likes of world stars Ardie Savea, Handre Pollard, Maro Itoje and Antoine Dupont.
While at Worth, Tate was one of two players to win England U18 caps, along with his team-mate Felix Bateman-Champain who is also now at Harlequins.
