Woodwind and brass musicians shine

This year’s series of informal concerts began last Friday with a delightful Informal Woodwind and Brass Concert in the Coleburt Room at Worth.

Our woodwind and brass players showcased a variety of music on their instrument and the programme included something for everyone, from jazz standards such as Charlie Parker’s Yardbird Suite to well-loved classical repertoire such as Debussy’s Arabesque. The concert ended with a group performance of the theme from Pirates of the Caribbean.

Well done to everyone who performed.

There is a lot going on for the Music department in the Lent Term, including our Scholars’ Concert on Thursday 13 March and our termly Ensembles Concert on Thursday 20 March. The Worth Musician of the Year competition, which celebrates musicians at Worth, reaches the semi-final stage this term while the Chamber Choir will be singing Evensong at Chichester Cathedral in March.

We also have House Bands – the second part of our annual House music competition – taking place at the end of February.
