Worth hosts hugely successful conference

Tue, Feb 3rd, 2026
Worth School

Worth hosted its inaugural Model United Nations conference on Saturday for seven visiting schools and the day proved to be a huge success, including a fabulous opening ceremony speech from Old Worthian Toby Rumford about his work for NATO.

Mr Rumford, who is one of the diplomats in the UK Delegation to NATO, launched the conference with a fascinating speech followed by a question and answer session in the historic Whitehead Room. He had travelled from Brussels especially for the conference.

Students, representing different countries, then spent the day in their various committees, which were hosted across the Worth campus, before returning to the Whitehead Room for a General Assembly Crisis Committee.

The day concluded with a range of awards which were presented by Interim Head Ms Marisa Bosa.

Worth students did an outstanding job chairing the various committees and General Assembly, while other students from the School took part as delegates. The quality of debate and discussion from all students – visiting and students from Worth – was hugely impressive. Congratulations to all students involved in the day.

MUN conferences are a simulation of the United Nations for students in schools and higher education. They provide a great opportunity to develop research skills and public speaking abilities.

Our Model United Nations Society has been going from strength to strength in the past year or so, winning a number of awards as well as sending record numbers of students to external conferences. The Society is offered as an academic enrichment option through our co-curricular programme.

Here is a selection of pictures from the day.
