Huge congratulations to Worth 1st XV rugby player Tate Williams who was selected for a four-day England U18s training camp at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre during half term.
As well as being one of our 1st XV captains this academic year, Tate also plays for Harlequins U18s.
Following the conclusion of the Premiership Rugby U18 Academy League, 39 boys including Tate were chosen for the England U18 pathway training camp. This was an excellent achievement and Tate was absolutely elated to have this opportunity after a great season.
As well as being a key player in a hugely successful season for Worth, Tate has had a phenomenal campaign in the Premiership U18 Academy League, starting as No.8 for Harlequins in all matches in which he was fit to play. He featured in six matches out of seven including games against Gloucester, Exeter Chiefs, Bath, Saracens and on finals day against Yorkshire Academy.
The England training camp ran from 20 to 23 February where the 39 U18 rugby players spent time together learning new skills, developing as a team and experiencing being coached at this level. Tate slotted in superbly, which is a testament to how well he has done in his rugby development.
Tate said: “It was a real achievement for me to be invited to the England camp. It was a good experience and I had a great time.”
Following this training camp, England will select a squad to compete in the U18 Six Nations Festival which will take place in France during April.
Tate’s Worth team-mate and fellow captain, Felix Bateman-Champion, is a current England U18 international who played in the Six Nations Festival last year.
Well done Tate. We are incredibly proud of your achievements.
