Many congratulations to a member of Worth’s senior golf squad, who helped the School reach a national final last year, for securing a golf scholarship in America.
Year 13 leaver Yago Rio Aja will head to Tennessee in August when he will take up a golf scholarship at King University, located in Bristol.
During his time with the senior golf squad, Yago helped Worth to a number of successes including reaching the national finals of the Independent Schools Golf Association Team Matchplay Tournament in June 2021.
Yago said: “I will study a Physics degree and I will play golf for the university and coach Brian Kamm. I will be there for at least four years and, depending on how it goes, I will think about doing a Masters there or going somewhere else. During my time at King University, I will be playing golf representing the university in all sorts of tournaments all around the US.
“I would like to thank Worth School, my coaches at Tilgate Golf Academy (who are in partnership with Worth), Mr Burton (Worth’s Director of Sport) and Mr Richman (Rutherford Housemaster) for allowing all of this and making it possible, and obviously my parents and guardians. Thank you everyone.”
Well done Yago, we are proud of what you have achieved.
At Worth we have our own Golf Academy, which is run in partnership with Tilgate Golf Academy, meaning we are able to provide outstanding coaching from highly experienced PGA Professional coaches. The School has its own 9-hole golf course and recently opened a superb indoor facility which includes a simulator, state-of-the art launch monitor and analysis capabilities.
