Worth this week joined people from around the world in celebrating Safer Internet Day, which promotes the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.

Safer Internet Day is a global initiative which inspires a conversation about the benefits of the internet and also what we can all do to make it safer for everyone to use.

As part of Worth’s PSHE programme, all year groups took part in talks and presentations to mark Safer Internet Day. This year’s theme, ‘Too good to be true? Protecting yourself and others from scams online,’ focused on teaching children and young people how to identify and avoid scams as well as highlighting available support.

Head of PSHE Mr Joe Huntley said: “Safer Internet Day is an important date in the calendar. Technological advancements and the growth of AI will have a direct impact on our pupils’ lives now and in the future. These advancements will provide great opportunities but will also pose potential risks. This week’s PSHE lesson focused on our pupils being more resilient in identifying scams, fake news and misleading information. Finally, we hope the information and guidance sent to parents earlier in the week encourages open conversations at home.”
