Worth Week 2025

Worth School

Worth stands out from other schools in that pupils do not go straight back into lessons at the start of the academic year and instead spend time building and reinforcing friendships, while also learning about the importance of community and belonging.

We start each year with a values-centred programme of activities which we call ‘Worth Week’. We believe this approach allows all pupils to settle back into school life quicker after the summer break and focus better on academic lessons when they begin.

Our Worth Week programme this year included team building activities, retreats, tutor group activities, games, multi sports sessions and community breakfasts.

Director of Mission Mr Daniel Harris, who organises Worth Week, said: “Worth Week fulfils a key strategic priority: helping pupils to find their feet at Worth, either for the first time or again after a long break.

“This year, our theme was ‘The Worth Way’, a vision of an education with heart and soul. In a world that often feels fragmented and fast-paced, we believe that it is important to understand our ‘why’. Why Worth and why is a Worth education so unique?

“The Worth Way reminds us of the importance of cultivating the whole person, not as a marketing gimmick, but because it is authentically us. It is a call to nurture not only the intellect, but also virtue, spirit and community. The Worth Way is an aspiration to build a community where each Worthian can reach their fulfilment, more fully and more easily.

“It is a journey for every student, staff member and parent to flourish individually and together, where each, as St Benedict said, has ‘everything to strive for’. This journey is deeply personal, yet profoundly communal, grounded in the ancient wisdom of the Benedictine way of life.”

Our pictures show Mr Daniel Harris speaking in assembly, some pupils enjoying a tutor group dance activity and a mixed netball session.
