Worth is delighted to hear that former student Kitan Ojo has been placed eighth in the Powerlist Magazine Top 150 Future Leaders (UK) for 2024-25.

Future Leaders is an annual publication which features 150 of the UK’s most outstanding African and African Caribbean students and new graduates. The list is used as a role model guide to inspire and raise attainment, with sponsors including Standard Chartered and the University of Oxford.

Kitan, who left Worth in 2019, is currently a Mechanical Engineering undergraduate at University of Exeter. As well as his academic achievements at Worth, Kitan was also an outstanding rugby player.

The Future Leaders citation read: “During his first year at university, he signed a part-time contract with Harlequins Rugby Football Club before rupturing both Achilles tendons. But the injury, he says, was good for him. “I thought rugby was everything and that probably made me neglect a lot of different skillsets I had developed at school. I had to make the most of other aspects of university life.” Far from the injuries ending his rugby career, Kitan has gone on to play for Houston SaberCats in the States and in Australia with Palmyra Rugby Club in Perth.

“He has thrown himself into leadership roles. As a student ambassador for the OddBalls Foundation, Kitan has given 21 speeches at 10 local schools to raise awareness of testicular cancer and helped to organise My OddBalls sports apparel for the university rugby club. His efforts saw him awarded Ambassador of the Month in January. Although still exploring his career options, Kitan recently completed a Harvard Business School online course in entrepreneurship essentials.”

Kitan said: “I am extremely honoured to have been recognised. In addition, I would like to express my appreciation to Adenike Adenitire for her recognition and editorial role in publishing the magazine. It is an honour to be a part of such a talented and driven group of leaders. I’m excited to see what we can accomplish together in the future.”

Congratulations Kitan.
